The Wizard of Oz tells the story of Dorothy Gale, a young girl from Kansas who dreams of a more exciting life beyond her family farm. After a powerful tornado sweeps her away, Dorothy and her dog Toto are transported to the magical Land of Oz.
To find her way home, Dorothy is advised by the Glinda to travel along the Yellow Brick Road to seek help from the mysterious Wizard of Oz in the Emerald City. Along the journey, she befriends three memorable companions: the Scarecrow, who longs for a brain; the Tin Man, who wishes for a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who seeks courage.
Together they face many challenges, including the schemes of the Wicked Witch of the West, who is determined to stop them. After completing a dangerous task and discovering that the Wizard is an ordinary man rather than a powerful magician, the friends learn that the qualities they sought were already within themselves.
In the end, Dorothy realizes that home is where she truly belongs. Using the power of the magical ruby slippers (silver shoes in the original novel), she returns to Kansas, having learned the importance of friendship, courage, kindness, and appreciating the people and places she loves.
